Maintaining cocoa management through pruning, frequent harvesting, fertilization, and sanitation in controlling the cocoa pod borers at the Nagekeo Cocoa Learning Center

INTISARI. Tanaman kakao merupakan tanaman yang berbunga dan berbuah sepanjang tahun sehingga dapat menjadi sumber pendapatan bagi petani. Tujuan dari PKL adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam aspek manajemen pemeliharaan kakao melalui pemangkasan, pemupukan, panen sering, dan sanitasi (P3S) dalam pengendalian hama penggerek buah kakao di pusat pembelajaran kakao Nagekeo. Metode yang digunakan di CLC Nagekeo adalah observasi, wawancara, studi pustaka serta dokumentasi. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukan bahwa CLC Nagekeo sudah menerapkan aspek-aspek manajemen pemeliharaan kakao melalui pemangkasan, pemupukan, panen sering, dan sanitasi (P3S) dalam pengendalian hama penggerek buah kakao dengan baik.Perlu ditingkatkan terutama dalam perlakuan terhadap panen sering yang seharusnya 1-2 minggu sekali, dan sanitasi pada buah kakao yang terserang hama PBK harus ditimbun dengan tanah.

 ABSTRACT. Cocoa is a plant that is flowering and fruiting throughout the year so that it can be a source of income for farmers. The field work practice was to improve the ability of diploma students in the management of cocoa maintenance through pruning, fertilizing, frequent harvesting, and sanitation (P3S) in order to control the cocoa pod borers. The fieldwork was located at the cocoa learning center of Nagekeo (CLC-Nagekeo), Mauponggo Subdistrict. The method used in the field practice activities at the CLC-Nagekeo were observation, discussion and interviews, literature study, and documentation. The results showed that CLC-Nagekeo has implemented well the principles of management in the cocoa maintenance through pruning, fertilizing, frequent harvesting, and sanitation to control pests, mainly cocoa pod borers. In maintenance of cocoa plants in the CLC-Nagekeo, there was some treatments that need to be improved, especially in frequent harvesting which should be in every 1-2 weeks, and also sanitation of infected cocoa pods, which should be stockpiled with soil.
